Mount Royal (within French: Mont-Royal) is a previous town placed on the nor'-west side of Mount Royal, north of downtown Montreal, on the Island of Montreal in southwestern Quebec, Canada. pop. 18,671 (Statistics Canada, 1996).

A community is however unremarkably known as a Town of Mount Royal (around French, Ville Mont-Royal), or potentially per abbreviation TMR, even though these are presently the borough of the City of Montreal.

History

A town was founded inside 1912. It was created per initiative of the Canadian Northern Railway. Its project was to build the new town (or "model city" when it was known as) at a foot of the mountain. A company bought 4,800 acres (Nineteen klick²) of farmland, so built the rail burrow under Mount Royal connecting their land to downtown Montreal. Geography
